Ray-Ban stories, smart glasses by Facebook, were launched on September 9. Smart glasses enable users to take photos, record videos, listen to music and answer phone calls without touching their smartphones.
The smart glasses come with dual 5-megapixel cameras, which are capable of capturing images and recording 30-second videos. Ray-Ban stories have external-facing LED lights that ensure privacy by letting people know when the cameras are working. Its privacy setting also allows users to customize settings. For example, it enables users to opt-in or out of sharing additional data, view and delete voice transcripts, etc. The temples of the smart glasses act as earphones and feature touch-activated controls for music playback, calls, and volume. The eyewear also features streamlined, open-ear speakers and a three-microphone audio array to offer voice and sound transmission for calls and videos. Its beaming technology and a background noise suppression algorithm provide an enhanced calling experience.
The smart glasses come with the Facebook View app that makes it easy for users to import, edit and share content captured on the smart glasses to apps on the users’ phones. This feature also helps save content to the users’ phone camera roll and then edit and share from there.
