Nita Ambani, the founder and chairperson of the Reliance group of companies, has announced her willingness to sponsor the historical initiative in the Indian Women’s Cricket, which would build a way to the female counterpart of the Indian Premier League. On November 1, the BCCI has declared Reliance Jio as the title sponsor of Women’s T20 challenge 2020. In an official statement, Nita Ambani said, “This is a progressive step towards the growth of women’s cricket in India. I am delighted to offer my full support for this wonderful initiative. I have immense faith in the potential and capabilities of all our sportswomen.”
This decision of the BCCI and Reliance group has considered the first step of women empowerment in the Cricket field, which was once known as male super players. As part of the association, the Reliance group has agreed to make arrangements for the national women’s team’s training in the Jio Cricket stadium in Navi, Mumbai. Besides, the stadium can be used for organising camps, trials, and cricket matches, all free of cost. Moreover, the players will have accessibility to all the facilities at the stadium. Other than this, women cricketers will be able to benefit from the amenities for rehabilitation and sports science available at HN Reliance Foundation Hospital & Research Centre in Mumbai.
Nita Ambani, India’s first woman committee member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), has been working for the betterment of Indian athletes and encouraging India’s youth, especially girls and women, to fulfill her dream to make India a multi-sports nation.
