Netflix India has started rolling out support for Unified Payments Interface (UPI) AutoPay payments.
“Starting today, anyone signing up for a Netflix account in India will be able to pay for their monthly subscription using UPI AutoPay,” announced Gunjan Pradhan, Head of Payments, Netflix India, on August 31.
With the help of UPI, users can now pay for Netflix’s recurring subscription costs. So you don’t need to worry about paying bills manually every month. The UPI AutoPay support is available on netflix.com as well as Netflix’s Android app for both new and existing users.
Until the introduction of the UPI AutoPlay feature by Netflix, users had to renew their Netflix subscriptions via credit cards and debit cards issued by MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Diners Club. Besides the card payment mode, users could subscribe or renew their existing subscription through telecom partners such as Airtel, Jio, and Vi. Netflix has introduced the UPI AutoPay feature running several tests.
“Our goal is to give members more freedom and control over their Netflix experience — to watch their favourite stories whenever they want, all without ads. We hope that adding UPI AutoPay to our existing payment options — credit and debit cards, as well as integrations with Airtel, Vi and Jio — will give our members even more flexibility,” stated Gunjan Pradhan, elaborating the new payment method.
How to make payment for Netflix Subscription via UPI AutoPay?
Existing users have to log in to their accounts. For a new user, you need to create a new account using your email address and choose the subscription plan, starting from Rs 199 (mobile plan), going up to Rs 799.
After that, you have to choose the UPI AutoPay method.
You can decide to pay the subscription charges via Paytm or a UPI ID. After filling in all the details and making the payment, you will be subscribed to the paid plan.
If you are an existing Netflix user, you can change the payments method to UPI AutoPay by redirecting to the Account > Billing Details in the Android app or the website.
After that, you need to choose the UPI AutoPay option to make sure that from the next month, you can pay the recurring subscription cost without paying manually and enjoy streaming without any interruptions.
