New faces are joining the high-profile league of Indian-origin tech leaders such as Google’s Sundar Pichai, Microsoft’s Satya Nadella and Adobe’s Shantanu Narayan.
The latest to join the elite tech honchos’ club is Rajesh Nambiar, current Chairman and Managing Director of Cognizant India, replacing Malcolm Frank, Executive Vice President and President of Digital Business and Technology at the IT major.
Nambiar, who developed and led Operation C3 (Cognizant Combats for Covid-19), brings deep knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) applications, data and analytics, infrastructure, cloud, and started his new role on June 4.
In a short time, he has established himself as a trusted leader among the 2 lakh associates of Cognizant in India.
“Living and working in India has helped me understand deeply our company’s strong operating model and how we deliver value to clients”, said Nambiar in an internal note after his promotion to the top role on May 28, 2021.
Earlier in his career, he served as the global leader at IBM Application Services, where he led a project for an $8 billion P&L that included AI, data and analytics, offering a range of applications, and he managed to satisfy thousands of clients with profitable delivery.
He joins the newly appointed CEO of the world’s one of the oldest companies, IBM, Arvind Krishna, taking Indian talent to new heights. Krishna is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, replaced Virginia Rometty as the CEO of IBM.
Enterprise software major VMware last month announced to appoint Raghu Raghuram as its new CEO and member of the Board of Directors, in effect from June 1.
This year in February, Google Cloud announced Bikram Singh Bedi’s take over as its new Managing Director for India replacing Karan Bajwa. Bedi set up the Amazon Web Services (AWS) operations in India.
Karan Bajwa, on the other hand, has been promoted to take responsibility for the Asia Pacific to lead all regional revenue and go-to-market operations for Google Cloud.
Google Cloud continues to invest in India and is prepared to launch its Delhi cloud region in India later this year after its launch in Mumbai in 2017.
