Dubai Airport Freezone (DAFZ) has launched a new Talent pass license for people working as freelancers. DAFZ happens to be a free economic zone in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, which provides company formation and business setup services in Dubai. It is located in the free zone area of the region, adjacent to the Dubai International Airport, Dubai, UAE.
The pass will be made available to those people having special skills and expertise from all around the world. The pass is aimed to attract global talent and professionals in creative fields like media, education, technology, art, marketing and consultancy.
The talent pass holders are qualified to obtain a residence visa for three years with an additional feature to rent office space, provided by the freezone. Pass holders will also have access to the vast network of Dubai Airport Freezone customers and access to freezone’s digital platform as well.
The passport was launched following a directive issued by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.
The Dubai Airport Freezone, part of Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ), signed a memorandum of understanding with the Dubai culture and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA). The memorandum describes the system of cooperation to process licenses, visas and other services that support individuals in establishing and operating their business in the UAE.
DAFZA will evaluate and process applications for the talent pass and issue licenses that will authorize holders to practice commercial activities within the limits of the free zone.
General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRA), is also going to promote Dubai Airport Freezone as a preferred destination for global businesses and the UAE as a business encouraging environment, which will provide talented individuals opportunities to reach out to larger consumer market.
The license will contribute to enabling the business class in Dubai to get benefits from the talent of creatives, specialists and professionals from all over the world. It provides them access to different business services at competitive prices without any restrictions. Dubai Culture will be committed to supporting the ‘Cultural Visa’ for holders of the applicable license and working to encourage talent to join the free zone and tap regional and global markets through awareness and communication programmes.
The talent pass is part of a scheme of six licenses introduced by DAFZ, which includes the commerce license for commercial activities such as import, export and re-export, and the general commerce license.
The scheme also includes the industrial license for light manufacturing activities and packaging, the E-commerce license for online trading of goods and services, the license issued in partnership with the department of economic development, which allows companies registered at the Dubai Airport Freezone to apply for the Department’s license without the need for an office space for working outside of the free zone and the license of the service for service-based companies.
These licenses come as a response to changing market requirements and the evolving business environment in Dubai, especially in the post-pandemic period.
