The government of India has invited applications for the National Overseas Scholarship 2022-23 that provides fully-funded scholarships to obtain higher education, such as a Master’s degree or Ph.D. Courses, abroad.
The Central Sector Scheme of National Overseas Scholarship is to facilitate the low-income students belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Denotified Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes, Landless Agricultural Labourers and Traditional Artisans categories to get higher education viz., Master degree or Ph.D. Courses, by studying abroad tho improve their economic and social status.
The Scheme provides financial assistance to the selected candidates for pursuing PG level courses and Ph.D. courses abroad in Institutions/Universities accredited by the Government/authorized body of that country in any field of study. In each Selection Year, 125 fresh awards are given under the Scheme. Moreover, 30% of the awards for each year are earmarked for women candidates.
Eligibility Criteria
At least 60% marks or equivalent grade in the qualifying examination.
In the case of Ph. D courses, the qualifying exam would be Master’s Degree and for Master’s Degree courses, the qualifying examination would be Bachelor’s Degree.
In case a student has completed Bachelors of Engineering after completing Diploma (Lateral Entry to 2nd year), percentage of marks obtained in Bachelor’s degree will be taken into account.
Not more than 35 (Thirty-Five) years, as on the first day of April for selection year.
Total family income from all sources shall not exceed Rs. 8.00 lakh per annum in the preceding financial year.
Funding Details
For applicants aiming to further their studies in the US or other countries, the following funding will be provided:
Annual Maintenance Allowance: 15400 US Dollars
Contingency Allowance: 1500 US Dollars
Tuition Fees: Actual as charged
Visa Fees: Actual visa fees in Indian Rupees
Medical Insurance Premium: Actual as charged
Incidental Journey Allowance & Equipment Allowance: 20 US Dollars for each or its equivalent in Indian Rupees
Airfare in economy class is also awarded.
For applicants aiming to pursue further studies in the United Kingdom, the following funding will be provided:
Annual Maintenance Allowance: 9900 Great Britain Pounds
Contingency Allowance: 1100 Great Britain Pounds
Tuition Fees: Actual as charged
Visa Fees: Actual visa fees in Indian Rupees
Medical Insurance Premium: Actual as charged
Incidental Journey Allowance & Equipment Allowance: 20 US Dollars for each or its equivalent in Indian Rupees
Airfare in the economy class is also awarded.
