University West is situated in Trollhättan, Sweden, and offers a number of degree programmes to students. The university possesses 15,000 students and 625 employees. Sweden has one of the best educational systems in the world and the country is also believed to have the world’s best non-native English speakers. No wonder more and more international students are making a beeline to Sweden to pursue bachelor’s and master’s programmes that are taught in English. In fact, Sweden is one of the most innovative countries in the world, topping the 2019 Innovation Union Scoreboard of the European Commission.
University West believes that knowledge can be acquired anywhere, not just in the classroom. Integrating work situations into study programmes – so-called Work Integrated Learning – exemplifies the important relationship between the university and the outside world. At University West, students experience an open, informal study environment. Usually, students and instructors address one another using their first names.
This approach encourages dialogue and collaboration between students and the teaching staff, thus stimulating opportunities for new ideas and innovations. Unlike many other universities, the international programmes at the University West have a small-scale character. Also, with a relatively high teacher-student ratio it becomes easier for the latter to get clarification and feedback and initiate discussions with faculties.
Every year the University West offers a limited number of scholarships for fee-paying Master’s students. The scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence.
