The attraction of the ‘California Streaming’ was a much-awaited and anticipated launch of the iPhone 13 series. Apple, one of the most valuable and popular tech companies globally, has finally introduced it along with other products at the online event from Apple Park on September 14.
Along with iPhone 13, Apple launched iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Max. The iPhone 13 series will be available for pre-order in India on September 17, with sales starting from September 24. The iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max have been priced Rs 79,900, Rs 69,900, Rs 1,19,900, and Rs 1,29,900, respectively.
In addition to the iPhone 13 series, the tech giant revealed the new Apple Watch Series 7, a redesigned regular iPad and an all-new iPad mini.
Here are some takeaways from ‘California Streaming’.
New OS to Arrive
iOS 15, the new operating system for iPhones, will be available for download from September 20. Apple’s new OS brings a new, three-dimensional city-driving experience to Apple Maps, along with walking directions featuring augmented reality (AR). The company has redesigned weather forecasts with full-screen maps and more graphical displays of data.
Robust 5G Efforts
Last October, Apple introduced its first 5G-enabled iPhone 12 series, which aims to double 5G support to 200 carriers in 60 countries and regions by the end of 2021.
As Apple announced, the customised hardware design and A15 bionic chip in the latest iPhone 13 line-up features more 5G bands, allowing it to work in more places on 5G for greater coverage and performance.
The brand-new iPhone 13 series also comes equipped with a smart data mode that will save battery life by automatically shifting the iPhone 4G when 5G speed is not required.
Green Apples
Apple’s new phones include antenna lines that use material made from recycled plastic water bottles. The waste bottles are chemically transformed into a higher-performance material.
During the event, Apple has committed to completely removing all plastic from its packing in the next four years. Apple claimed that the iPhones’ latest redesigned packing omits the outer plastic wrap and avoids 600 metric tonnes of plastic waste.
iPhone 13’s Cinematic Mode
With the Cinematic Mode, the iPhone 13 series would make your mobile footage look a lot more like Hollywood films, the company claimed. The new feature can mimic the focus capabilities like professional cameras. It is capable of automatically focus your video scenes on specific subjects. For example, it can make someone in the background is blurred out. Cinematic mode is even can push focus to someone in the background if a foreground character looks at them. You can also manually choose focus points. As of now, the feature is limited to shoot in 1080p and 30fps.
More Intuitive iPads
The new operating system iPadOS15 adds new capabilities to iPads, including the ‘translate’ feature that better facilitate conversations like ‘auto translate’ and face-to-face view that allow users to make FaceTime videos and calls to those not on iPhones and capture photos while talking or listening.
The ‘live text’ feature enables on-device intelligence to recognise text in a photo to ensure that users respond appropriately. For instance, a photo of a storefront may reveal a phone number that provides you with the option to call that store.
Apple’s ‘focus’ feature allows users to filter notifications based on what they are doing, for example-working, reading, exercising or playing games.
Expanded Fitness+
Apple Fitness+ introduces a new programme for workouts to help users prepare for winter sports featuring American athlete Ted Ligety, a two-time Olympic gold medallist and five-time world champion skier. Fitness+ will introduce group workouts with the SharePlay app later this Fall. With this app, users can exercise with up to 32 people at once.
Entirely built for Apple Watch, Fitness+ will introduce guided meditation and Pilates in late September, and the feature will arrive in 15 new countries by the end of this year.
