“Music is a language that doesn’t speak in particular words. It speaks in emotions, and if it’s in the bones, it’s in the bones,” Keith Richards’ famous words are apt for the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) singers who create magic with their music and mesmerise the Indian audience.
Shirley Setia is one such singer who became a sensation. Shirley hails from Auckland, New Zealand, but was born in Daman. She started her career as a YouTuber making cover versions of popular songs. She also made her acting debut with the film ‘Maska’ which released on Netflix on 27 March 2020.
Shirley will be making her Bollywood debut with Nikamma this year.
“Nikamma is not the first film that I auditioned for,” she revealed in a recent conversation and continued, “There were many films I auditioned for before. They never worked out. So, I let time take its own course and guide me.”
