Who is Nidhi Sunil?
Known for her role as Samira in her 2015’s film ‘Kaash’, Nidhi Sunil is an Indian model and actor. She campaigned for many advertisements.
Sunil debuted as an actor in Bollywood with the ‘Gangoobai’ film released in 2013.
The 33-year-old model has been awarded the title of ‘Model of the year’ by Vague India. Sunil was the first model from India to become the Global Ambassador of L’Oreal Paris.
She participated in reality shows like ‘Get Gorgeous’ telecasted on Channel V before debuting as a model and actor in her initial days. Her modelling career has been a bumpy ride. She has been often criticised for her skin tone and height in India.
Sunil tried her luck in fashion before making it big in the film industry. Maire Claire offered her first project. After that, she got those projects lined up that she had been rejected for earlier. To name a few, Elle, Grazia, GQ, Cosmopolitan, and Vague are the magazines in which she got featured, that too on the covers. With these, in 2017, she bagged the model of the Year award.
Her career didn’t start this fancy as it reads. As mentioned earlier, she overcame not only roadblocks but also confusion throughout her career.
Born on March 31, 1987, in a Malayalee family, Sunil was brought up in Bengaluru. Holding a law degree from Symbiosis Law School, Pune, Nidhi began her career as an environment lawyer. But she swiftly switched her career in 2011 when she won the Femina Miss South Glamorous Hair subtitle in 2010 and became 2nd runner up in the Pantaloons Femina Miss India South 2011 pageant.
Sunil did campaign for brands like Garnier, The Gap, forever 21 and so on. She even became the face of Espirit. She is committed to New York agency One Model Management. Additionally, Nidhi has been announced L’Oreal’s newest global ambassador in February 2021.
