A major UK daily’s rich list includes some tycoons of Indian descent who are among the country’s wealthiest people. According to the Sunday Times UK Rich List, Hinduja is the richest person in Britain.
Srichand and Gopichand Hinduja lead the Hinduja family. With an estimated worth of 28.472 billion pounds, the Hindujas are at the top of the list. Last year, the industrialized family was ranked third on the list, but they have risen to the top with a surge in a wealth of 11 billion pounds this year.
Hindujas aren’t the only Richie Richs of Indian descent on the list of the 250 wealthiest Britons. With an estimated worth of roughly 17 billion pounds, steel mogul Lakshmi Niwas Mittal is ranked sixth. Last year, he came in the fifth position on the list.
With a fortune of 9.2 billion pounds, Anil Agarwal, the founder and chairman of Vedanta Group, is ranked 16th. He was rated 15th on the list last year. Due to a 200 million pound rise in fortune, he was promoted to one rank.
Biocon founder and executive chairman Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and her family have reached the list of women billionaires, with a net worth of 2.5 billion pounds. In the list issued last year, she was rated 56th. Shaw was rated 913 on the Forbes Billionaires List, released this year.
With a net worth of $1.20 billion, Geeta Gupta-Fisker, the chief financial officer and chief operating officer of Fisker Inc, an electric car company, is also on the list at 149th place.
With a stated net worth of 730 million pounds, UK finance minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murthy have also topped the list. His wife acquired the fortune, and she is the daughter of Infosys co-founder NR Narayana Murthy and philanthropist Sudha Murthy.
