Erasmus Mundus’ Scholarships For Joint Master’s Degree in Medical Image and Application

Erasmus Mundus was started in 1987 by the European Union under the broader Erasmus+ program and is short for European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students. The education programme was started to further the goal of greater integration of Europe and enhance the quality of education through cooperation and international collaborations.

The Erasmus programme aims to make education more inclusive through its scholarships and is dedicated to enhancing research and international collaborative networks. With a program budget of 14.7 billion euros and 4,000 partner institutions, Erasmus offers students immense scope to learn, travel and conduct research. Currently, the applications for the Joint Master Degree in Medical Image and Applications are open. Also, there are around 20 EMJMD scholarships available for the course.

The MAIA is a 2 years’ Master’s programme, which aims to initiate students to the novel developments in computer vision and robotics techniques to be applied to the specification, design, development and deployment of computerised systems to help physicians in a more efficient diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The Master’s degree responds to the new advances in computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) systems, which in close development with novel imaging techniques, have revolutionized healthcare in recent years.

The MAIA master is coordinated by the University of Girona (UdG, Spain) and with the University of Bourgogne (uB, France) and the Università degli studi di Cassino e del Lazio Meridionale (UNICLAM, Italy) as partners. Students follow a fixed mobility scheme, spending one semester at each university, while the fourth semester is devoted to the master thesis, which is done in any of the universities of the consortia or collaborative universities and companies.

This Master’s degree is perfect not just for bachelor’s degree holders in Informatics Engineering but also for closely related fields such as Engineering and Science to acquire a deeper knowledge of information technology and its applications.
