The distress of the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced us to remain indoors, was eased through a plethora of entertainment options. The people who once avoided TV shows for their long commitment were able to binge-watch several episodes and seasons. These efforts by makers will now be lauded as the nominations for the prestigious Emmy’s were announced recently.

A fair share of shows released on Streaming services such as Netflix and Disney+ constitute the list. HBO & HBO Max shows top the list with a whopping 130 nominations, closely followed by Netflix shows with 129 nominations and Disney+ with 71. As such platforms cater to a wider audience, American shows have further garnered international popularity.
The Crown and The Mandalorian ( Star Wars series) are tied at 24 nominations, followed by Marvel’s WandaVision with 23. The nominations also include 44 first-time performers across major categories.
This year’s Emmy Awards ceremony will be hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on 19th September.
