The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) has informed about the admissions to MD, MS, and MD courses for non-resident Indians (NRIs) in Government/Government Aided/Private Medical and Dental Educational Institutions through a recent notice.
These institutes include those under Private Universities such as PDM University Bahadurgarh, Jhajjar, and SGT University, Budhera and Gurugram for the 2021-22 fall.
As per the notice, about 15% of management quota seats in private medical colleges affiliated to Pt. B.D Shanna UHS, Rohtak, including those under Private Universities like PDM University Bahadurgarh, Jhajjar, and SGT University, Budhera and Gurugram shall be reserved under NRI category seats.
The procedure for admission under the NRI quota is described below.
- All admission under NRI category seats shall be as per the applicant’s NEET merit.
- Only NEET qualified candidates shall be eligible to apply under the NRI category.
- Person of Indian Origin (PIO), Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and foreign nationals who are NEET qualified can also apply under the NRI category. Still, foreign nationals shall be considered only for any vacant seat left after exceeding the list of NRIs, PIOs, and OCIs.
The preference for admission under the NRI category shall be considered if the candidates:
- Originally belonged to the State of Haryana
- Children of NRIs/OCIs/PIOs who originally belonged to Haryana.
- Originally belonged to any Indian state or UT other than Haryana.
- Children of NRIs/OCIs/PIOs originally belonged to any Indian state or UT other than Haryana.
