Haryana in UK association has declared its prestigious ‘Haryana Gaurav’ award to the state’s athletes Bajrang Punia, Ravi Dahiya and Anshu Malik. The panel comprising Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra, Amit Panghal and Manu Bhaker also selected three Haryanvi Para-Athletes for this year’s ‘Haryana Gaurav’ award. The ‘Haryana In UK’ is an association of residents of Haryana in the United Kingdom which celebrates Haryana Day on 6 November every year.
The committee has decided to start the ‘Haryana Gaurav’ award for para sports from this year. Deepa Malik and Amit Saroha have been recognised for their achievements and life-long commitments in bringing para-athletics to India. The committee also selected Sumit Antil in para athletics, who broke the world record at the Paralympics and won gold.
The announcements were made by Haryana In UK Association President Kuldeep Ahlawat.
“All the preparations are in full swing. Our core group members are doing a great job. They are Sajjan Singh, Anuraj Nandal, Rinku Dhankhar, Praveen Dahiya, Ashwani Kalkal, Manveer Dalal, Vivek Chaudhry, Manish Dahiya, Amit Ahlawat, Naresh Malik, Naveen Sehrawat, Sarla Chaudhry, Parveen Rani, Rajender Dahiya, Vinod Chillar, Kuldeep Kadian,” a spokesperson for Haryana in the UK said.
