Amazon Prime video launches mobile-only plans in collaboration with Airtel

Amazon has introduced the mobile version of Prime Video. The service is available for Rs 89 in collaboration with telecom service provider Airtel. Amazon Prime claims to have launched the world’s first mobile Prime video plan in India.

Customers will get the Mobile Video Edition of Prime Video along with various prepaid recharges from Airtel. The video will be streamed on SD. This benefit is available with multiple Airtel prepaid plans. Through the Airtel Thanks app, users can subscribe to Amazon Prime using their Airtel mobile number. They can enjoy Prime for free for one month. The Amazon Prime Video Mobile Edition is available with annual plans ranging from Rs 89 to Rs 2698. This benefit is valid from 2 pm on January 13. Netflix, a rival to Amazon Prime Video, has already launched a low-cost, 199-only mobile plan in India. However, the Rs 89 plan does not offer any more benefits on the mobile version of Amazon Prime. But to get more benefits, users have to recharge Rs 131 and Rs 349 plans.

Meanwhile, new subscribers of Amazon Prime Video will get one month free. Through these mobile plans, Amazon aims to make OTT platforms to a larger audience, even to the people in small towns.

If Airtel customers want to stay after the 30-day free trial, they will have to recharge Rs 89. The mobile version of this Prime Video will offer 6GB of data under the prepaid plan. And you get access to Amazon Prime Video for 28 days. Amazon Prime membership is also available on the Rs 299 prepaid recharge plan. It offers unlimited voice calling benefits, 1.5GB of data per day, and access to Amazon Prime Video. It has a term of 28 days. However, one can not avail of other Amazon Prime benefits with Rs 89 mobile plans.  They can only watch movies, shows, and other videos. Major benefits such as streaming through devices including multi-user access and smart TVs, HD, UHD video, and ad-free music on Prime Music are not available on Airtel plans. Those who want these benefits and access to prime content should plan a prepaid plan of Rs 131. All Prime benefits, unlimited calling, and 2GB data per day plan for Rs 349. Currently, Amazon Prime is offering a one-month free subscription. If you log in with your Airtel number, you can enjoy the benefits of Airtel’s Amazon Prime Mobile Edition beyond the free trial limit.
