People around the world welcomed 2022 amid the rising Covid cases that played a spoiler in the New Year celebrations in many cities. Australia, the United Arab Emirates, North Korea and New Zealand have welcomed the new year with dazzling fireworks and beautiful lightning.

Australia kick-started the celebrations with stunning fireworks sent off beneath the Sydney Opera House in Sydney Harbour. Sydney New Year’s Eve has two firework displays, one which happens around 9 pm, known as Family Fireworks, and the other one is the Midnight Fireworks.
