World Emoji Day 2021: All You Need To Know About Emojis

Have you ever thought of texting someone without using emojis these days? It would be pretty difficult to text without using emojis as it would look dull and boring.

Emojis often help us convey our feelings, words, and expressions efficiently, especially when it would be challenging to put in words. World emoji day is observed to promote the usage of emojis in our day-to-day conversations.

The first-ever emoji had been created in 1999 by Shigetaka Kurita, an engineer in a Japanese mobile operating company. He had created 176 emojis for the release of a mobile integrated service i-mode. But, only in 2010, Unicode had approved the standardised usage of emoji.

Following this, global giants like Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Twitter started creating their own sets of emojis. While in 2014, Jeremy Burge, the founder of Emojipedia, announced that July 17 would be recognised as World Emoji Day every year.
