Build on the UAE’s hard-won capabilities and then add a lot more. This is precisely the strategy His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will pursue as the UAE’s third President.
As a matter of fact, the economic approach will combine old and new strengths in equal measure.
There are several evident strengths that might be developed further to reach their full potential.
The UAE is the world’s economic powerhouse, one that will foster the expansion of crypto-assets and the technology that underpins them. Of course, a regulatory framework has already been established.
Leverage the UAE’s current capabilities as a commercial hub, and apply those strengths to infrastructure elsewhere in the region via additional ports and terminals.
Reiterated the UAE’s status as an industrial powerhouse by fostering a new generation of manufacturers who will capitalise on available cash and land to achieve their goals, whether in the energy industry or elsewhere.
Maintain an open-door policy for startups and the minds behind them, and they will be welcomed with all the assistance they require to see their ideas and services gain traction.
Re-establish the UAE as a place for the world to visit — and, once there, to remain, whether in the flashy buildings and mansions of Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat or Yas, Dubai’s glitzy skyscrapers and mansions, Sharjah’s burgeoning neighbourhoods, or the serene surroundings of Ras Al Khaimah or Ajman.
Continue to spread the word about renewables and clean energy, whether it’s via the construction of enormous solar power plants or the quest for blue/green hydrogen and the clean energy it can supply for future generations.
Continue to extend UAE expertise and financial strength in local and international markets, whether through wealth funds ADIA and Mubadala, renewable energy pioneer Masdar, or investment behemoths ADQ, IHC, Alpha Dhabi, and Aldar.
Meanwhile, continue to discover and finance a new generation of wealth producers utilizing the UAE’s original source of past and current strengths – oil. And to create job opportunities for UAE citizens and others.
