The Ukrainian Embassy in the UAE recently announced that Ukrainians living in the UAE would be allowed to apply for a one-year residency visa to stay in the nation.
“The Embassy of Ukraine in the United Arab Emirates informs that, in accordance with a message from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, citizens of Ukraine have been given the opportunity to apply for a permit to stay in the Emirates under a special procedure,” the statement said.
It advised Ukrainians to take advantage of the program by contacting Tasheel service centres around the nation. In 2018, the UAE passed a resolution allowing people of war-torn countries residing in the UAE who had overstayed their visas to stay in the country for a year if they came forward, declared their unlawful status, and applied for a special exemption residency card.
From March 3, all Ukrainian citizens landing in the UAE are granted visa-free access.
Last month, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, ordered two emergency humanitarian aid aircraft to assist citizens leaving Ukraine due to the Ukrainian conflict. The two aircraft carrying vital relief supplies took out from Dubai and Sharjah airports, and the help was expected to reach roughly 85,000 people.
Earlier in March, the UAE offered $5 million in humanitarian aid to help people affected by the Ukraine crisis. The money will go to the United Nations’ Humanitarian Flash Appeal and Ukraine’s Regional Refugee Response Plan.
