As the cloud of the Russian invasion threat is looming over Ukraine, the Indian mission there has advised Indians to return to the country. The Embassy of India in Kyiv has urged Indians, particularly students whose stay is not essential, to leave Ukraine temporarily because of uncertainties of the current situation.
“In view of uncertainties of the current situation in Ukraine, Indian nationals, particularly students whose stay not essential, may consider leaving temporarily,” the Embassy of India in Kyiv said in a statement.
“Indian nationals are requested to keep the Embassy informed about the status of their presence in Ukraine to enable the Embassy to reach them where required. The Embassy continues to function normally to provide all services to Indian nationals in Ukraine,” the advisory said.
The Kremlin signalled Monday that it is ready for talks with the West about security grievances that led to the current crisis, offering hope that Russia might not invade Ukraine within days as Western officials increasingly fear.
So far, many governments have urged their citizens to leave Ukraine amid the crisis. The countries are the United States, Germany, Italy, Britain, Ireland, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Canada, Norway, Estonia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Australia, Japan, Israel, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
