UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Passes Away 

In a tragic turn of events, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, passed into ages on Friday, May 13, the Ministry of Presidential Affairs declared. 

As per a WAM report, “The Ministry of Presidential Affairs condoles the people of the UAE, the Arab and Islamic nation and the world over the demise of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the UAE.” 

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan served as the president of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi since November 3, 2004. 

Born in the year 1948, Sheikh Khalifa was the second President of the UAE and the 16th Ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. He succeeded his father, the late His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who was UAE’s first president since the Emirate attained independence in 1971 until his demise on November 2, 2004. 

As the eldest son of Sheikh Zayed, HH Sheikh Khalifa was a part of structural reforms concerning both the Federal Government and the government of Abu Dhabi after assuming the post of the president of the UAE. 

During his rule, the UAE saw rapid development that guaranteed a decent living for the people belonging to the Gulf country. 

After becoming the President, Sheikh Khalifa unveiled his first strategic plan for the UAE government that was intended to accomplish balanced and sustainable development. 

Known to have a receptive attitude, Sheikh Khalifa was very grounded in nature and took an active interest in the affairs of his people. 

As a result of his noble deeds, he was very much admired in the UAE and the Middle East region.
