Kartarpur has witnessed an emotional reunion of two siblings who were separated during the India-Pakistan Partition in 1947. The brothers were reunited after long-74-years in Kartarpur on Wednesday.
The brothers Siddique and Habib met at Kartarpur Corridor, connecting Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan to the border with India.
Siddique is a resident of Pakistan’s Faisalabad, and his elder brother Habib resides in the Phullanwal area of Punjab in India, reported the News International.
Siqqique was an infant during the Partition when his family split, and his elder brother Habib grew up on the Indian side of the Partition line.
The brothers could not control their emotions and burst into tears of joy after meeting and embracing each other.
According to The News International, he told his younger brother that they would continue meeting through the corridor.
The brothers lauded the initiative of Kartarpur, saying that the corridor helped them to reconnect.
The Kartarpur Corridor opening facilitates visa-free travel from India to Pakistan up to Kartapur. The Indian government decided to re-open in November 2019.

The Indian part of the Dera Baba Nanak – Sri Kartarpur Sahib corridor involves a 4.1 k.m. long four-lane highway from Dera Baba Nanak to the international border and a state of the art Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) at the international border. Dera Baba Nanak is a city situated in Gurdaspur district in the state of Punjab, India.
