The UK Attracts High Net Worth Indians in Droves

The United Kingdom has become a hot destination for Indian professionals, including students and entrepreneurs. After Brexit and the post-pandemic situation, the UK is gaining huge popularity.

As per Experts, immigration to the UK by wealthy Indians has been increasing steadily and the Brexit has hardly had an effect on the same as speculated by some.

The growth happened after the ambitious new migration partnership that was forged between the UK and India earlier this year. It aims to make living and working in the UK easier for young Indian professionals. The agreement is part of the UK government’s commitment to deliver an immigration system that attracts the best and brightest persons from India and around the world.

The report discloses that a considerable number of Indians who are attracted to the UK are high net worth individuals, looking to set up businesses or expand their existing operations. The UK also offers easy accessibility to investors and bright financial markets. The Covid-19 pandemic has added momentum to the trend of immigrating to the UK and buying properties there, experts felt.

“The reasons remain the same and include familiarity of language, purified air, good infrastructure, access to capital markets, ease of doing business and the fact that UK is well suited to deal with time differences, both in the east and west. Therefore, many global businesses find it easier to operate out of the UK,” Pallavi Bakhru, partner and leader, private client services at tax advisory firm Grant Thornton Bharat, was quoted as explaining by TOI.

London is one of the most desirable cities in the world, especially among Indians to own property. The global elites who own properties in London are attracted by the security, lifestyle, cultural delights and low property taxes. However, London is a complex market for outsiders to process because every neighbourhood has a unique character.

It may seem like a maze to an overseas buyer without a competent local agent’s help. Some of the other reasons, including the presence of a large Indian diaspora, good educational facilities and access to good healthcare, are also instrumental in Indians moving to the UK.
