The UAE National Cyber Security Council & Injazat Unite To Thwart Cyber-Attacks

The UAE National Cyber Security Council and UAE-based technology company Injazat have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in January 2022 to enhance coordination and response time to potential cyber-attacks in the country.

In the United Arab Emirates in November 2020 approved the establishment of a new national cybersecurity council, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, UAE prime minister and vice-president and ruler of Dubai, stated on Twitter.

In the words of Sheikh Mohammed “During the government meeting, we decided to establish a cybersecurity council that will develop policies and laws to strengthen cybersecurity.”

He added that the country’s security in the digital space was as important as security in the other areas.

The MoU was signed by Ussama Dahabiyeh, Chief Executive Officer at Injazat and His Excellency Dr Mohammed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government at Intersec, the largest security exhibition in the Middle East region, to enable all government and semi-government entities to be safeguarded by Injazat’s Cyber Fusion Centre’s ‘Detection and Response’ services.

The agreement allows Injazat to provide standardized ‘Detection and Response’ services to all government entities at competitive rates and also train and equip UAE nationals in cyber security.

It will also enable Injazat to co-create and develop future-facing cyber defence products to make cyber risks less severe and secure the digital infrastructure of the UAE.

The Detection and Response services would also involve cyber threat intelligence, threat defence operations and digital forensics that offers an integrated view of the growing risk possibilities with data on which an action can be taken at the council level to make informed decisions and coordinate responses.

Injazat launched the region’s first-ever Cyber Fusion Centre (CFC) in June 2020 to boost protection against data breaches and cyber-attacks. Injazat is one of the region’s leading technology and digital transformation providers, playing a central role in the evolution of today’s digital economy.

The CFC has a different task from other competitors with its radically different approach to cyber defence by proactively managing advanced threats, unlike traditional Security Operations Centres, which are more focused on identifying and reacting to incidents.

Cyber Fusion Centres also help organizations in streamlining their systems and gathering information to take actions and apply strategies while improving productivity and reducing costs.

Mohammed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government said, “Injazat’s state-of-the-art Cyber Fusion Center will centralize and streamline incident detection, enable coordinated responses and provide a unified approach to neutralize potential threats, which is an absolute necessity today when countering cybercrimes.”

Ussama Dahabiyeh, CEO at Injazat, added, “Given the growing complexity of cyber-attacks and how interconnected our systems are, a proactive and single integrated function is essential to ensure the cyber resilience of our critical infrastructure. This agreement between the Injazat and the National Cybersecurity Council will be beneficial in the areas of cyber threat intelligence sharing, cybersecurity exercises, national talent development, and will also help cement what is already a strong and fruitful partnership between the two organizations.”
