The 73rd Emmy Awards took place at the Event Deck at LA Live in Los Angeles on September 20. The show, hosted by Antonio Kyles, an actor and comedian popularly known as Cedric the Entertainer, moved to an indoor-outdoor venue this year due to the pandemic.
‘The Crown’, which had multiple nominations, won the event by sweeping seven big awards. It won prizes for Best Drama series, best actors (drama) and best actors in supporting roles. It also took honours for best writing and directing. Olivia Colman won Best Actress, and Josh O’Connor won Best Actor for the Netflix series.
Talking about the ceremony, the event’s biggest attraction was Ted Lasso, who became the biggest contender with 13 nominations (the greatest number of nominations). However, The Crown won by show by sweeping seven big awards. Jason Sudeikis bagged Emmy for his performance in Ted Lasso, whereas the show won the Outstanding Comedy Series award.
