Sudha Reddy: Indian Face At The Iconic Met Gala 2021

After an indefinite delay in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, fashion greatest night, the Met Gala was conducted on September 13. There has been an Indian representation once again at the 2021’s event, which is also known as the Costume Institute Benefit.

Joining the megawatt celebrities who took to the steps of the Metropolitan Museum in their finest attire was philanthropist and business figure Sudha Reddy. Sudha Reddy, Businessman Megha Krishna Reddy’s wife, is the Director of Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL). This was Sudha’s maiden outing at the glamorous soiree. Sudha Reddy’s stunning red-carpet debut is safe to say that she was the only Indian this year’s event.

Her presence at the 2021 Met Gala came as no surprise as she is a supporter of the fine arts and is widely known for her charitable disposition. Sudha Reddy, who is considered one among the well-heeled jetsetters of South India, made her city proud as she is the first Hyderabad based non-film luminary to attend the hotly-speculated global affair. In the past, Indian celebrities such as Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone have graced the event.

Sudha Reddy made her entry to the Met Gala in a haute couture gown (by ace designer duo Falguni and Shane Peacock) that had the hues of the American national flag embroidered over it in sequins and was heavily embellished with gold, red and navy-blue coloured Swarovski crystals, beads and sequins. The gown, which took 250 hours to make, did full justice to Sudha’s eclectic persona. “We have created a novel edgy military-inspired look that blends well with the overall theme of the MET Gala,” Falguni and Shane Peacock were quoted as saying.

“Drawing inspiration from the stars in the American flag, which symbolises the 50 glorious independent states of America, I designed a sensual ear cuff with diamond-encrusted stars,” the designer added. “It is crafted in 18 kt gold with 35 carats of VVS diamonds.”

The accessories she wore includes a custom-made piece by jewellery designer Farah Khan called Dreamy Decadence.

American celebrities like Billie Eilish, Timothee Chalamet, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Lil Nas X, and many others graced the Met Gala’s red carpet.
