Skoda Auto India has launched a new matte edition of the Rapid compact sedan, starting at Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2021 Skoda Rapid Matte features a Carbon Steel Matt paint with a Tellur Grey interior, making the sedan look meaner and sporty. Its radiator grille and spoiler are finished in gloss black, going very well for the contrast. The rear also gets a gloss black diffusor, tailgate spoiler and black trunk lip garnish.
Powered by the same 1.0-litre turbo engine, the Matte Edition has got both manual and automatic transmission with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard and an optional six-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The engine contains a three-cylinder turbocharged TSI petrol motor that produces 108 bhp at 5000 – 5500 rpm and 175 Nm of peak torque of 1750 rpm – 4000 rpm.
It comes with 16-inch black alloy wheels. Complementing the exterior, the cabin gets dual-tone teller grey with black leatherette, and Alcantara inserts. The matte edition comes with the creature comforts like a USB air-purifier, stainless steel scuff plates and high visibility performance bulbs. Its 6.5-inch infotainment screen supports Apple Carplay, Android Auto and a rear-view camera.
It gets dual airbags and an anti-lock braking system (ABS), Parktronic rear parking sensors, auto-dimming inner rear-view mirror, rear windscreen defogger with a timer on the safety front. Besides, it also has height-adjustable three-point seatbelts at the front, rough road package and engine immobilizer with floating code system are standard.
The new Skoda Rapid Matte Edition is limited to one body colour. It is available at Rs 11.99 lakh for the 1.0 TSI Manual variant and Rs 13.49 lakh for the 1.0 TSI Automatic variant. On purchase of Skoda Rapid Matte edition, Skoda Auto offers the Shield Plus package with the Rapid with a six-year coverage that provides motor insurance, 24×7 roadside assistance, and an extended warranty.
