Reflections of the Past is an award-winning series by commercial advertising photographer Tom Hussey. The photo series portrayed elderly persons looking at reflections of their younger selves.
Hussey was inspired by a World War II veteran who said, he can’t believe he is going to be 80.
“The idea hit me as I was walking with WWII veteran Gardner. He was about to celebrate his 80th birthday. He didn’t understand how he could be 80 years old when he still felt like a young man. I was nearing 40 and realised everyone thinks of themselves at a certain age or time in life,” Hussey described how he had come up with such an idea.
