In the cabinet meeting held at Amiri Diwan, chaired by The Prime Minister Of Qatar and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, certain topics on the agenda were considered.
Firstly, the cabinet approved a draft law to regulate the right to obtain information and refer it to the Shura Council.
The Consultative Assembly, also known as Shura Council, is the legislative body of the State of Qatar. It constitutes 45 members. Following the 2021 Qatari general election, it has 30 elected members and 15 appointed members.
A draft law was prepared by The Administrative Control and Transparency Authority so that the global developments can be made in the country with respect to the integrity and transparency of the system.
As a thorough discussion was made on the draft law, the council submitted the draft law to its Legislative Affairs Committee so that they study the law in detail and submit a report on the same.
The meeting was chaired by the Speaker of the Shura Council HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim.
Secondly, approval was given to an Amiri Decision that amended a few provisions of the 2011 decision that established the Standing Committee for Water Resources.
Thirdly, approval was given to Qatar Tourism’s participation in the ILTM Asia Pacific 2022 exhibition to be held in Singapore from June 20 to 23, 2022.
Fourthly, a decision was made with regard to the necessary measures so that the memorandum of understanding between the General Authority of Customs of the State of Qatar and the World Customs Organization can be ratified regarding the establishment of a regional training centre affiliated with the World Customs Organization in the State of Qatar.
In the meeting, the Cabinet also entertained the explanations given by the Minister of Public Health Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari on the latest developments that are necessary to limit the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19).
The Cabinet also affirmed the continuation of the precautionary measures taken to combat the pandemic.
