Pepsico To Bring A Zero-staffed Snack Store To Expo 2020 Dubai

The official snack and beverage partner to the Expo 2020 Dubai, Pepsico, on September 5 announced that it would bring three brand-new innovations to the world fair site. Earlier, Pepsico introduced Aquafina water in recyclable aluminium cans, so the audience on-site remain hydrated. The food and beverage company’s dedicated pavilions in three Thematic Districts- Pepsi and Lay’s Plus Pavilion in opportunity District, Gatorade Bolt Pavilion in Mobility District, and Aquafina Drop Pavilion in Sustainability District- are also ready to welcome visitors with fresh offerings. 

Through the introduction of brand-new innovations, the company aims to achieve sustainability. As Pepsico believes it can potentially change the way customers shop and consume its products, it is offering more sustainable choices, by giving the opportunity to select products that are good for the planet. 

As Pepsico’s first innovation, it will offer baked multigrain snack Sunbites in eco-friendly packets in limited edition at Expo, ensuring that its packing is recyclable, compostable or biodegradable. 

Its second innovation is a water dispenser, which will allow the audience to customise their drinking water, be it sparkling, still, flavoured or plain. Visitors can choose any flavour of lime, peach, strawberry and raspberry lime on offer from the Aquafina water station screen. The water dispenser will be paired with a special reusable tumbler with unlimited refills to help visitors cut down their plastic consumption. These bottles will be kept for purchase in either blue or white. If any visitor tends to purchase a bottle, s/he must scan the QR code that comes along with the bottle so s/he can unlock the machine and create his/her bespoke drink. The expo will have about 30 such water stations on site. 

The audience will get to experience demonstration through a virtual reality (VR) offered by Pepsico. Stationed across four different locations at the expo site, Pepsico will have a staff-less, cashless kiosk designed to offer snacks on site. With its AI-infused technology, Pepsico will permit visitors to walk in, authenticate their method of payment, grab a snack or two from the shelves and walk out. 

With the eco-conscious vision of Pepsico, Expo 2020 Dubai will be hosting one of the most sustainable World Expos in history.
