His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the ruler of Oman, has issued instructions during the cabinet meeting that additional salary shall be paid to those under social security categories during Ramadan.
It was stated that “His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik directed the establishment of an economic zone at the Procuratorate of Al Rawda in the Wilayat of Mahdah in the Buraimi Governorate.”
The direction was aimed at “advancing the local economy in the Wilayat in particular and the governorate in general and its economic development through establishing projects and attracting investments and capital money to it and create job opportunities for citizens”.
Also, while preparing the necessary studies for this, His Majesty ordered the allocation of suitable sites for the production of green hydrogen to promote foreign investment and localize this technology.
His Majesty even wanted to keep pace with global transformations in this field and work towards speeding up the procedures for regulating this sector and setting the legal frameworks and policies necessary for its growth.
This was aimed at keeping up with the global trend towards reducing carbon emissions and given the wide uses of green hydrogen for the production of electric power and the provision of thermal energy to local industries.
The organizational structure of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals will be a general directorate concerned with clean energy and hydrogen energy for this purpose and the establishment of a company to develop this promising sector.
During the meeting, His Majesty ordered to pay an additional allowance to social security categories with the beginning of the blessed month of Ramadan and to make efforts to mitigate the impact of the high prices of goods and services on them.
His Majesty also issued direction to expedite the review of social programmes and the basis for calculating social security allocations to provide an adequate standard of living for these groups.
His Majesty even asked the cabinet to stimulate the national economy, activate the investment environment, and follow up on commercial and industrial activities and the conditions of private sector companies to reduce some fees related to the labour sector.
His Majesty stressed the need to listen to the needs of citizens and to pay attention to all social sectors, especially social security groups and people with limited income.
