Engineers, computer experts, and consultants made up 60% of NRIs who chose fractional commercial real estate investing, according to the poll.
Millennials account for 50% of commercial real estate investors:
While real estate has long been a popular investment option for non-resident Indians (NRIs), a recent survey claims that millennial NRIs are particularly interested in commercial properties. According to the research, millennials account for 53% of NRI investors, and Bengaluru is the most popular destination for NRI investment.
MYRE Capital claims to have examined the investment appetite of roughly 5,000 NRIs across 13 countries in its Neo-realty Survey. Passive income for the family, portfolio diversification, lack of other secure options, and tax-efficient returns are among the major drivers for commercial real estate (CRE) among NRI investors, according to the report.
While Bengaluru was selected by 22% of NRIs for investment, Mumbai was preferred by 18%, Pune by 17%, Chennai by 9%, and Delhi by 8%. According to the research, 44% chose to invest in office buildings, 23% selected schools, 20% preferred retail, and 13% preferred warehouses.
According to the poll, CRE is preferred by roughly 53% of NRI investors over ETFs (21%), mutual funds (19%), and other investment vehicles, with the average ticket size being Rs 38 lakh.
NRIs from Bengaluru and Mumbai (45%) expressed interest in investing in the city they were born in. Survey also underscores that Bengaluru, as the world’s IT/ITeS hub, is witnessing an increase in demand from multinational corporations.
