Meet Advit Golechha, A 4-Year-Old Who Became The Youngest Asian To Reach Everest’s Base Camp

Advit Golechha, a four-year-old boy, has been at the centre of media attention for the past week with the record of becoming the youngest child to climb the Mount Everest base camp. Advit, who currently lives in the UAE, hails from Hyderabad. He fulfilled his mother’s dream of climbing the base camp.

The Mount Everest base camps are campsites accessed by mountain climbers and hikers in their journey. Shweta Golechha, Advit’s mother is excited about her son’s achievement, ‘I wanted my son to become the youngest mountain climber, and I ensured that he walked to the 15th floor of our flat in Abu Dhabi regularly instead of using the elevator.’

Advit started his trek on October 28 and completed it on November 6 by covering a distance of 5,364 meters. Advit was taken to Manali two weeks prior by his parents to acclimatize himself to colder climates.

The boy was very enthusiastic about the whole journey. He climbed the peak along with his mother and uncle. Shwetha remembered, ‘we told him superhero stories and sang songs along the way to encourage him.’

Shwetha had this dream of climbing Mount Everest, and she asked the climbers to help her train Advit. ‘I ensured that he walked for at least two hours a day, received proper physical training and ate healthily,’ she said. He was very energetic throughout the whole trek.

This is not the first record for Advit; earlier, he bagged the record of the youngest in the world to identify 195 countries with capitals only by looking at their flags.
