As per the news published by The Hindu, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has announced plans to extend Kerala’s migration survey’s data bank of NRIs.
He was speaking to expatriate delegates at the Loka Kerala Sabha online’s third session’s final meeting on Saturday (18-06-2022) as per online news sources. Mr. Vijayan also stated that an expatriate data portal will be created for this, via which an enormous worldwide registration effort would be organized.
Considering expatriate data collecting to be a serious issue, the Chief Minister stated that lack of correct information was also obstructing expatriates’ welfare initiatives. The Chief Minister stated that the Loka Kerala Sabha will soon become a formal body and that there would no longer be much of a divide between the expat population and Kerala.
Mr. Vijayan expressed his deep concern for the expat population and stated that the State would go forward as one. The Loka Kerala Sabha’s proposals will be taken seriously, and required choices will be made. Those to be made in conjunction with the Centre and decisions to be made solely by the State would be treated as such.
The Pravasi (NRI) community in Kerala may establish strong higher education institutions, and the state government would assist them fully. Kerala has a strategy to become a developed middle-income country, according to the State’s CM. Mr. Vijayan also stated that the objective was to attain the level in 25 years and that expatriates should provide the appropriate ideas.
The State government’s growth ambitions in the realm of higher education were also discussed by the Chief Minister. The government would put together a package to position itself as a market leader in the sector of 5G network services.
It would be implemented through four state-wide information technology (IT) corridors, with a high-level commission overseeing the process. Mr. Vijayan stated that the state has gathered data on extremely impoverished households and that the government had put aside Rs 100 crore to help them get out of poverty.
Industry Minister P. Rajeeve remarked at the event that an online Adalat will be held to settle expatriate industrial investment issues. The committee appointed to investigate the matter had given its report, which included the replacement of obsolete laws and regulations in the rules. Mr. Rajeeve explained that the decision was made to update the outdated guidelines.
