One of the fastest-growing carmakers in the Indian market, Kia Motors has announced that it has become the quickest brand to achieve the 3,00,000 sales milestone in India. The automaker touched the first one lakh mark in July 2020, the next one lakh unit sale in 2021, and the remaining one lakh in August 2021.
Kia Seltos and Sonet contributed to achieving this milestone. Kia Seltos accounts for 66% of Kia India’s overall sales; 32% of sales are attributed to the Kia Sonet, a subcompact SUV. The company has sold 7310 units of the Kia Carnival MPV as of today.
The company sells Kia Seltos at Rs 9.95 lakh, and Rs 17.65 lakh, Kia Sonet at Rs 6.79 lakh and Rs 13.25 lakh, and Carnival is priced at Rs 24.95 lakh and goes up to Rs 33.95 lakh.
Kia India has also started working on building a robust network of sales in the domestic market. It aims to expand its footprint from the current 300 to 360 touchpoints, reaching out to 90% of the geography, including Tier III, IV, and upcoming markets. Recently, Kia has also updated its new brand logo to give its new and existing models a sporty look. In addition, the dealerships are likely to be designed in a similar theme.
Over the last two years, Kia has invested more than $2 billion, including creating the vendor park near the Anantapur plant. This plant is considered Kia’s most advanced production facility as it is equipped with more than 450 robots and other disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence and environment-conscious techniques like 100% water recycling.
