A wonder house, uniquely combined design of an aeroplane, train and a ship, has been ready to accommodate an NRI family at Mallappally in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala.
Once the world recovers from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and international travel begins in full swing, the family would gather together in this house that is made of steel. The owner of this house is T T Thomas who has been living in Bahrain for the past 30 years.
When Thomas had decided to spend his post-retirement life in his motherland, he came up with the idea of such a house. As he has been involved in steel fabrication work in Bahrain, he tried to use his expertise to construct a steel house in India. “The house is built aiming to three means of transport I travelled in my life,” Thomas told Times of India.
“The idea was his creation, and during construction, people mocked him.” However, when the stages of the construction overcame, people started visiting the Wonder house.
The 2200 sq. ft. house has been built upon 20 cents land near Mallappally town.
Thomas expected that the construction would be completed within six months. However, with the Covid-19 pandemic, lack of workers and shortage of construction material, it took over a year to complete. He said that the construction materials had been purchased from Coimbatore and Pune.
Thomas’s last house in the Middle East was similar to this one as the roof was made with a sandwich panel and exteriors with a side panel. V-board was used for interiors, elucidated Thomas.
The three-bedroom house has four washrooms, one hall and a kitchen. The balcony of one room is the cockpit of the plane. The train portion ensures the entrance of the building, taking to the hall. Additionally, it has sliding doors. The sit out, hall and kitchen are convertible into a single big hall by sliding the partitions, he further said.
