Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar, the youngest in the family of matinee idol Rajkumar, has died aged 46. Puneet, known as the power star, suffered a heart attack in the gym today morning and was rushed to the Vikram Hospital in Bengaluru.
Puneet was given emergency treatment in the ICU, and the doctors declared him dead after some time.
Puneeth started his acting career as a child artist in his father’s movie Premada Kanike in 1976. He was less than a year old then. After that, for the next 13 years, he appeared in over two dozen movies as a child artist. He got the National Film Award for his acting in Bettada Hoovu in 1985.
The film Appu (2002), was a significant one in his career, after which his fans fondly called him Appu. Some of his famous films include Abhi, Veera Kannadiga, Ajay, Arasu, Raam, Hudugaru and Anjani Putra. He was last seen in Santhosh Anandrram’s ‘Yuvarathnaa’, which was released early this year.
The news has shocked many celebrities and fans alike, and condolences have been pouring in from all corners.
