Today marks the first death anniversary of the legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam. Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, SPB’s longtime friend Ulagha Nayagan Kamal Haasan and many other celebrities took to social media to remember the legend.
Kamal Haasan took to Twitter to share two pictures with his brother SP Balasubrahmanyam and remembered him. His tweet in Tamil is loosely translated as, “People do become what they preach. My brother Balu dedicated his entire life to music. That’s why he has become a voice today. He has left the world, but his soul still revolves around us.”
Mohanlal shared a video of SPB singing a Malayam song and remembered “his celestial voice that remains unparalleled.”
In August 2020, SPB was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai after he tested positive for Covid-19. He died of lung failure on September 25, 2020.
