Indian Americans Dr Renu And Suresh Khator Named Among Houston’s 29 Most Powerful Couples

The Houston Chronicle Dec. 10 released a list of couples named Houston’s “29 Most Powerful Couples,” among which were   

Indian Americans Dr Renu Khator and Suresh Khator are named among Houston’s “29 Most Powerful Couples.”  

The Houston Chronicle recently released a list of couples, including Beyoncé-Jay-Z and Neil-Maria Bush.

The couples, according to the Chronicle, are “some of Houston’s most successful life partners who all have one thing in common: They’re better together.”  

Dr Renu Khator is the chancellor and president of the University of Houston. According to the report, Dr Renu is the first foreign-born president of the university, the second-ever woman to hold the position, and the first Indian-American to lead a major U.S. research university.  

Dr Renu’s remarks helped the institution to secure an invitation to join the Big 12 collegiate athletic conference earlier this year.   

While Suresh Khator, a doctorate holder in engineering, is a professor and associate dean of UH’s Cullen College of Engineering.  

Renu, born in Uttar Pradesh, completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Kanpur and did her master’s and PhD degrees in political science and public administration from Purdue University. Before her appointment at UH, she was provost and senior vice president at the University of South Florida, capping a 22-year career at that institution.
