IC15 is India’s first index of global cryptocurrencies, developed by Mumbai-based financial content provider TickerPlant. IC15 would be composed of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Chainlink, Polkadot, Cardano, Litecoin, Avalanche, Binance Coin, Solana, XRP, Shiba Inu, Terra, Uniswap, and Dogecoin.
It is a rule-based broad market index by market capitalization that tracks the performance of the top 15 widely traded liquid cryptocurrencies that are listed on major crypto exchanges around the world.
Currently, the index opened at 71,463.30 points on January 1, 2022. Its base value is set at 10,000 and the base date is April 1, 2018. According to the company, the index captures over 80 percent of market movement and is, therefore, an important tool for tracking and analyzing markets.
IC15 is India’s first index tracker, and we intend to complete the knowledge circle for the entire blockchain and crypto ecosystem. The initiative will not only push the ‘learn before you earn‘ concept, but also provide the industry with yet another powerful intervention, said Jigish Sonagara, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CryptoWire.
TickerPlant developed the super app CryptoWire in December 2021 to provide users with real-time market price information, news, insights, as well as research, training, and information.
According to United Capital, the IC15 index was designed to allow users to create diversified portfolios, to be a performance benchmark for fund managers, to facilitate accurate replication of the index and to serve as a preferred index for the creation of index-linked products like index funds, exchange-traded funds etc. By placing the index on the cryptocurrency trading market, it enables efficient derivatives trading.
Sonagara said that by launching India’s first crypto index, IC15, he intends to complete the knowledge circle for the entire crypto and blockchain industry.
Through its Crypto University, a crypto YouTube channel, and a wire service that offers tools such as arbitrage opportunities identification, watchlist creation, and lending & borrowing rates, TickerPlant offers digital currency learning content.
