Legendary Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar, or ‘the nightingale of India’ as her admirers lovingly call her, turned 92 on Tuesday, September 28. Singing songs in over 30 languages with a decades-long career, Lata Mangeshkar amused music lovers every day. She has been bestowed with many awards, including Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award.
The song, Dil Mera Toda, for the film Majboor in 1948 was her breakthrough. In 1949, Lata Mangeshkar emerged in the limelight with the track Aayega Aanewaala from Madhubala starrer-Mahal. And then, rest is history. On her birthday, let us revisit some of her soulful tracks. Of course, it isn’t easy to list few songs of Lata Mangeshkar.
