Expo 2020 Dubai: Indian Pavillion Gets Over 300,000 Visitors In First 43 Days

India’s massive four-floor pavilion has emerged as one of the most-visited pavilions at Expo 2020 Dubai, with the number of visitors crossing three lakh in just forty-three days on November 12. The pavilion, inaugurated on October 1 by Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs and Food and Public Distribution and Textiles, Piyush Goyal, showcases India to the world and projects the country as the next hub for growth and innovation.   

India, home to 1.3 billion people from over 700+ tribes and communities conversing in 19,000 languages and dialects with an eclectic blend of religions and spiritual streams, showcases its diverse art, culture, literature, cinema, and cuisine. The pavilion plans to host over 140 mega cultural and business events and 26 multilateral summits in 182 days. The pavilion offers a vibrant cultural hub with hundreds of performances. The world-renowned Indian celebrities have showcased their performances on this global stage.  

Let us take a look at some of the Indian celebrities who performed at Expo 2020 Dubai:  

  1. AR Rahman  

The Firdaus Orchestra, led by Academy and Grammy award-winning musical composer AR Rahman was an out of the world musical experience at Expo 2020. The pioneering all-women ensemble Rahman was mentoring for over a year played a mix of contemporary and classical pieces, including one of his original compositions to a packed audience. The all-female Orchestra will make a comeback on November 16 at Expo 2020 Dubai.   

  1. Salim Merchant and Suleiman   

The Diwali celebration was glorified with the dynamic concert by renowned musicians Salim and Suleiman. Bollywood’s top music composer duo performed at Dubai Millennium Amphitheater. Salim is also one of the Indian celebrities to be granted the UAE Golden Visa.   

  1. Shekhar Kapur  

An Indian film director, producer and actor, Kapur, best known for his films ‘Bandit Queen’ and Oscar-winner ‘Elizabeth,’ is a content advisor for Expo 2020. He had also earlier announced his collaboration with AR Rahman and how a live musical show is in the works for Expo.   

  1. Vipul  Mehta  

The Indian pavilion offered a mesmerizing musical night with the popular playback singer Vipul Mehta as a part of the Diwali celebrations at Expo 2020 Dubai. The musical night was also a visual treat to the audience.  

The Diwali celebrations held by the Indian pavilion also had artists like rapper Badshah, singer Aastha Gill, and Rico; Peter Cat Recording Co; When Chai Met Toast; Dhruv; and Shilpa Ananth.
