Cryptopunk Ethereum NFT With Bandanas Sells For $23 Million 

In the crypto punks archives, a new record was set when Deepak Thapliyal made an 8,000 ETH purchase for Cryptopunk #5822 on February 12, 2022, for $23.3 million at today’s exchange rates. 

It includes 10,000 different Cryptopunk NFTs (3,840 female and 6,039 male versions), each with different attributes. It was created in June 2017 by Larva Labs Studios. As many as 5,927 traders have sold $2.57 billion worth of cryptocurrency through Cryptopunks since June 2017.  

Deepak Thapliyal, the new owner of the NFT and the CEO of a blockchain company called Chain, explained that he used Compound Finance to acquire the NFT.  

Cryptopunks NFT has a floor price of around $209k or 71.52 ether today, which is the least expensive price you can pay. Dappradar.com metrics indicate that Cryptopunk #5822 has a value of about $9.93 million or 3,397.89 ether.  

Deepak Thapliyal, CEO of Chain.com, revealed that he purchased Cryptopunk #5822. Thapliyal noted that he used Compound Finance to make the purchase and that ETH is still in his possession.  

“With compound finance, I’m able to HODL ETH while buying this. Basically, Long’d ETH to punk-in. Decentralized finance FTW,” Thapliyal tweeted.  

From cryptoslam.io’s seven-day sales statistics, the NFT collection Cryptopunks saw $50.7 million in sales, up 69.35% this week. Thapliyal’s acquisition of Cryptopunk #5822 increased the collection’s weekly sales and 24-hour sales by 1,660.41%.  

Besides Cryptopunk #5822, the other two most valuable Cryptopunk NFTs include Cryptopunk #7523, which sold at a Sotheby’s auction for $11.8 million, and Cryptopunk #3100 sold for 4,200 ether 11 months ago.  

Dappradar.com statistics show Thapliyal has 1,873 NFTs in 59 different collections worth around $64.63 million. Cryptopunk #5577 sold for 2,501 ether or $7.7 million four days ago, and Dappradar.com statistics show Thapliyal is an avid collector of NFTs with an estimated value of around $64.63 million today.
