The French carmaker Citroen will launch its first model, the C5 Aircross, on April 7 in India. Citroen was unveiled last month, and the booking of the car started on March 1. The customers booked the Citroen paying an advance token of Rs.50000 at the Citroen’s La Maison dealership. The company announced that they would deliver the vehicles soon after the launch of the vehicle.
The C5 Aircross will be imported from abroad and assembled at the company’s Tiruvallur plant in Tamil Nadu. Citroen is expanding its operations in India in partnership with CK Birla Group, the owner of Hindustan Motors, the maker of ‘Ambassador’. The alliance currently manufactures engines and gearboxes at its plant in Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu. Citroen had announced plans to locally assemble 90-95% of its machine parts for vehicles manufactured in India.
The pricing information for this vehicle will be announced during the presentation of the vehicle. However, the premium SUV is not accompanied by luxury amenities. The C5 Aircross is expected to be priced at around Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).
The C5 Aircross will be available in India in two variants, Feel and Shine. This vehicle has a design style that has never been seen before by any Indians. The LED Projector headlamp, DRL, foglamp with corner function, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheel, electric LED tail lamps, etc., make the exterior design of the C5 Aircross more attractive in this segment of cars.
The interior of the C5 Aircross is feature-rich. The interior of this premium SUV features has an 8inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay-Android auto features, dual-zone climate control, digital instrument console, electrically adjustable driver‘s seat, specially designed passenger seats for greater ride comfort, panoramic sunroof and keyless, which makes the car more significant among the others. A powerful diesel engine powers the Citroen C5 Aircross SUV. The 2.0-litre diesel engine produces 177 PS of power and 400 Nm torque. The transmission is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and the vehicle offers a high fuel economy of 18.5 kmph. The company also said that the vehicle would be equipped with strong safety features. The vehicle has blind-spot monitoring, tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic stability program, reversing camera, traction control, coffee break alert, hill-start assist, six airbags, hill descent control and front and rear parking sensors for ensuring more safety of the vehicle.
