Biden Administration Taking Steps To Require Covid Shots For Foreign Travellers

A White House official has recently confirmed that the Joe Biden administration is taking steps towards requiring almost all foreign visitors to the US to be vaccinated for Covid-19. This would be a part of the administration’s approach to easing travel restrictions for foreign citizens entering the country, although no timeline has been determined at the moment.

Intricacy groups are now studying how and when to resume normal travel safely. With certain exceptions in place, all foreign citizens eventually entering the country will be expected to be vaccinated against Coronavirus.

Travel restrictions kept in place by the Biden administration severely curtail international trips to the United States, citing that the delta variant of the virus may spread. As per the rules, non-U.S. residents who have travelled to China, the European Schengen Area, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Brazil, South Africa and India in the prior 14 days will not be allowed to enter the US.

Whether or not one is vaccinated, all people travelling to the US must show proof of a negative Covid-19 test taken within three days of travelling to the country by air.

The Joe Biden administration has been pressured to lift some of the restrictions from people who have been affected – the air travel industry and people who have been separated from their loved ones due to the rules. Many people have claimed that since caseloads in the United States are worse than in several other prohibited nations, the travel restrictions do not reflect the current situation brought about by the virus.

The new development by the Biden administration has been appreciated by Airlines for America, a trade group for major U.S. airlines.

The union government, on July 29, said that travel restrictions are being eased for Indian students by several countries, including the US, Canada, the UK, and Germany. As the Covid-19 pandemic situation gradually improves, other countries are also expected to do the same.

According to Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan, the government’s efforts are to ease travel restrictions for Indian students studying abroad in foreign universities.
