Before Boarding The Metro In Dubai, Be Familiar With New Stations, Changes In Names Of Existing Ones

If you use the Dubai metro on a day-to-day basis, you must know about the new changes as some stations have recently been renamed. In addition, a brand-new station has also been inaugurated on September 1. If you haven’t boarded a metro recently in Dubai due to safety concerns caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, however, you plan to use the Dubai metro services sometime soon, here are a few things you need to keep in mind.  

The biggest underground station in the entire Dubai Metro network is the Jumeirah Golf Estate station which falls under the Dubai Metro Route 2020. The station falls between Al Furjan station and the Dubai Investment Park Station. Besides these stations, Route 2020 comprises of:  

  • Jabal Ali (Interchange station)  
  • The Gardens  
  • Discovery Gardens  
  • Al Furjan  
  • Jumeirah Golf Estates  
  • Dubai Investment Park  
  • Expo 2020 (not yet open to the public)

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recently changed the names of certain metro stations.   

The newly-named stations are:  

Al Rashidiya Station, which got a new name, Centrepoint station, is one of the two terminal stations on the Red Line.  

Dubai Marina station has been renamed Sobha Realty station that also falls on the Red Line.  

Al Jafiliya station’s new name is Max Fashion station. This station falls on the Red Line as well.  

With a rapid transit rail network in Dubai, the Dubai Metro, which Serco, a British company, operates, offers two primary routes: Red Line and Green Line. It also runs the metro through the Route 2020 branch line from the Red Line to Expo 2020.
