Befitting Reply From Mcdonald’s To Tesla: Mcdonald’s To Accept Dogecoin Only If Tesla Takes Grimacecoin

Elon Musk said if McDonald’s accepts the meme cryptocurrency dogecoin (DOGE), he’ll eat a happy meal live on television. However, McDonald’s hit back saying, “only if Tesla accepts Grimacecoin.”  

McDonald’s tweeted a question about crypto Twitter, prompting Musk to respond.  

The billionaire tries to get McDonald’s to accept Dogecoin 

Known in the crypto community as the Dogefather, Musk was named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year for his support of the meme cryptocurrency. In the past, he said that he owned dogecoin and that meme coins are the people’s crypto. 

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said dogecoin is the best cryptocurrency for transactions. He said bitcoin is better suited to serving as a store of value. In addition, Tesla has begun accepting dogecoin payments for some merchandise. 

Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla and SpaceX, offered to eat a McDonald’s happy meal if the chain accepted Dogecoin (DOGE) in a tweet Tuesday. 

Tweeters expressed their excitement and said they would eat at McDonald’s more often if DOGE was accepted by the restaurant chain. Some said they would only pay with DOGE at McDonald’s. A few people asked McDonald’s whether they would accept other coins, like Shiba Inu (SHIB). 

Musk’s tweet caused DOGE’s price to surge slightly. At the time, DOGE was priced at $0.1359. 

During the week, the meme coin jumped more than 10% to $0.1496, according to Bitcoin.com Markets. However, it lost some of its gains and was trading at $0.1419 at the time of writing. 

The McDonald’s Responses With “Grimacecoin” 

The official Twitter account for McDonald’s responded to Musk. “Only if Tesla accepts Grimacecoin,” it told the Tesla chief. Grimace is Ronald McDonald’s fluffy purple companion in the commercials for McDonald’s. 

Additionally, McDonald’s has been tweeting about cryptocurrency in general recently. It pinned a tweet Monday that stated: “how are you folks who run cryptocurrency Twitter accounts?”. Memes about McDonald’s and cryptocurrency have been popular recently, particularly when prices fall. 

A question about cryptocurrency was tweeted by McDonald, prompting Musk to answer it.
