The joint venture organised by the University of Queensland and the Indian Institute of Technology, the UQ-IITD Academy of Research (UQIDAR), offers a great opportunity to all the aspiring academicians to seek admission in 2021 December for a research program in the field of engineering, humanities and social sciences, mathematics, science and technology.
The chosen candidates who applied for the proposed research project will receive a scholarship for the full-time research. The candidates have to work on major challenges which are relevant in Australia, India and the global community. The intake will be based on two types of students, i-students and a-students. Under the category of i-students comes International and Indian students while Australian citizens come under a-students.
The application is open till 17 October 2021 and interested candidates can visit the official site www.uqidar.org to apply online. The students after finishing the programme will receive jointly awarded Ph.D. from both universities.
Minimum required Qualification for i-students and a-students
A postgraduate degree in the relevant field or a bachelor’s degree with two years of research experience along with research publications. Valid scores in the public examinations are desirable but exceptional candidates who meet all other eligibility criteria may also be considered.
Requirements to apply online
The candidate can choose up to two projects listed among several proposed titles and complete the statement of purpose form. An updated academic CV along with scanned copies of certificates, English language proficiency requirements, contact details of two academic referees and copies of results of competitive exams if any.
Perks of joining the programme
- The candidates will receive a jointly awarded Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) and The University of Queensland (UQ) supervised by professors from both institutions.
- The students can spend time in both India and Australia. The students from Australia will spend three years at UQ and one year at IITD, while Indian students will have to spend one year at UQ and three years at IITD.
