Weekend Watchlist: TV Shows Aand Movies To Watch Out This Weekend

On weekends, people try to relax from the monotony of life by doing several things. Some go on a short trip, while some do the house chores, including washing clothes and cleaning the house. And there are a few who prefer to binge-eat as well as watch TV shows or films. If you are somebody who falls under the last category, here’s a watchlist for you to make your weekend delightful.

La Casa De Papal or Money Heist

One of the most-watched TV shows, Money Heist, is back with its much-awaited season 5 (vol. 1). Premiered on September 3 on Netflix, season 5 vol. 1 of Money Heist will pick up from the shocking cliff-hanger last season, the gang led by ‘the professor’ has been stuck in the Bank of Spain for over 100 hours. Although they have managed to rescue Lisbon, their darkest moment is upon them after losing one of their own. Sierra has caught the mastermind (The Professor) and, he does not have an escape plan for the first time. When it seems like everything is in place, energy enters the scene that is much more powerful than any they have faced: the army. To know how the heist will end, you have to watch the latest season.

Good Girls

The fourth season of the crime comedy-drama TV series ‘Good Girls’ has premiered this week on Netflix, and the lead trio of talented actors Mae Whitman, Christina Hendricks and Retta will make it worth your time. The story revolves around three suburban women who rob a grocery store out of desperation; however, they end up working for a vicious mafia gangster. The series takes you through its dark humour and thwarts ideas of how an ideal housewife or woman should conduct themselves.

Home

Malayalam film Home is nothing but a sentimental family drama. As the title suggests, home typically consists of parents and children, siblings, husband and wife. Similarly, in this film, veteran actor Indrans is excellent in playing his role as father and husband. His sons neither care for him nor respect him. The film portrays his quest to gain some respect from his own family members. Directed by Rojin Thomas, there are no big stars in this film, but the performance by Vijay Babu, Sreenath Bhasi, Johny Antony, Anoop Menon, among many, makes this 161-minute film work. You can watch it on Amazon Prime Video.

Shang-Chi

The much-awaited action movie was finally released on September 2, featuring Marvel Studio’s first Asian superhero Sim Liu. The actor is playing the role of a martial arts master Shang-Chi, who confronts the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organisation. Other than Sim Liu, Shang-Chi stars Awkwafina and Fala Chen, among many.

Turning Point: 9/11 and the War on Terror

Suppose you are keen to dig into History after looking at the situation of Afghan citizens in Kabul under the Taliban’s second regime. In that case, you can consider watching the series based on 9/11 events. The five-part docuseries by director Brian Knappenberger is a cohesive chronicle of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States. The series offers illuminating perspectives and personal stories of how the catastrophic events of 9/11 changed the course of the country.
